Possibly offering a little illumination...

In Your Dark Hotel

I step into your dark hotel
Deep in this broke down town
Pawning my ninth life
For the jewels in your crown
Time fades into the hallways
Night hours creep
I know behind your door
That you’re crying in your sleep

Sometimes you're like looking in a mirror
Sometimes you're like staring at the wall
I can't get no perspective
Just know I want you that's all
But you’re bound to faithless heart
You share your bed with grief
We’re two worlds on our own
And you’re crying in your sleep

What did I have to do
To be fascinating to you
There were no road maps to trace
A path to the thoughts behind your face
Cupid was keeping score
Didn't like your odds no more
Karma was a knife
Through this expletive-deleted life

Babe I'd like to make you a promise
That I'll be the man to keep
There will come a night
You won't cry yourself to sleep
No more dark hotel
No more city deep
There will be a night
You won't be crying in your sleep
You won't be crying in your sleep
You won't be crying in your sleep

New Love Born

Locked myself
In a dark place
Then light broke in
I see your face
Funny thing
In shadow gloom
Turn your head
Love blooms

Love’s new born
It’s a new mornin’
New love born

Past is lines
On the face of the man
Future’s written
In the palm of your hand
Surround this prison
Sound your angel horn
Bring these walls down
Bring me a new morn

Love’s new born
It’s a new mornin’
New love born
New love born

Love’s new born
It’s a new mornin’
New love born

Love’s new born
It’s a new mornin’
A new love’s born
A new love’s born

Flowers Cuz they die

When her husband played her face like a piñata
She’d had enough of being some man’s fool
There’s a full stop at the end of your life sentence
So why play by his rules
She says It’s just the same old lullaby
So don’t send me no more flowers cuz they die

She g
ot tired of a drowning man’s love letters
His naked one-way need
All dressed up to look like something holy

You’re safer hanging out with honest thieves
He sings the same old worn out lullaby
But don’t send me no more flowers cuz they die

She says Everybody’s life’s unfinished business
But
lucky fools get real good exit lines
Don’t wait until they blow out all your candles
Just hope there’s someone there to wave goodbye
Don’t play me that worn out lullaby
And don’t send me no more flowers cuz they die

She hated all the worn out lullabies
But I sent her roses when she died

Dancing to his Touch

Dreaming under moonlight hanging in her window
Prayers in the darkness that only darkness hears
Her mind’s lying with him wrapped in his body
Safe in a story that has no tears
Imagination dances to his touch
Her imagination dancing to his touch

Ragamuffin child at the gates of light
Just a little innocent at not so sweet sixteen
Her flawless heart can’t imagine being broken
Welcomes the pirate plundering her dreams
Her every cell leaping at his touch
Every cell dancing to his touch

Soul dying for the spell to be cast
You thought he sang to the love in your eyes
He casually shattered the gift freely given
You thought so this is how it feels to be alive

Dreams of moonlight hanging in her window
Like mist in sunshine she watches them fade
Doing what she has to do to get by
But sometimes remembering the way
Her body danced to his touch
How her body danced to his touch
Her imagination’s dancing to his touch

Ooh Ooh Ooh
Ooh Ooh Ooh
